October 31st, 2010 La Paz Eco Village Update:
After about two years since conception, much work and expenditures, the Founding Councils for the La Paz Eco Village are about to take place on November 12th-15th, 2010. There are about 30 confirmed participants, with about another 100 or so "maybe attending", a number of course representing more than one person.
We can safely assume that 50 or so folks will be participating, as well as a number of local people who wish to see the project succeed and are offering whatever assistance their time and resources may allow.
A few participants are also full time residents of the area and would like to be part time residents, particularly in the hot summer months when the Eco Village site is 10 -15 degrees cooler than La Paz and other areas on this State.
The group members are by and large multi-talented and essentially all the skills needed for every aspect of the project are represented within the circle. Pooled funding appears to be available to cover all of the needs as well. Talents in the arts are abundent, as well as organic gardening/farming expertise, construction needs, wholistic (the w is included in that spelling to indicate the whole of medicine) healing, essential schooling skills....
And of course all are dedicated towards sharing a life of peace and harmony with one another and our natural environment.
All information is posted and updated on the projects website at: www.lapazecovillage1.weebly.com which also contains Google Earth views of the region on down to the actual sites' existing structures. Many photos are posted, as well as some videos of our neighbor, the Sierra de la Laguna National Park and World Heritage Bio-Reserve, including panning footage from the peeks showing views of the area down to the Pacific Ocean coastline. One includes a sweep which goes right past the Eco Village site itself with the sea in the background and a large arroyo about 2 kilometers to the right.
Suffice it to say, this Eco Village project is off to a good start. Also included on the website is our link to our Facebook group with the same name: La Paz Eco Village. A search for that includes the Event Listing for the Founding Councils and list those members of that group specific who will be attending (19 to date) and 58 who may be attending. These represent about half of those included in the overall network in both confimed and maybe attending.
So all is going very well and we expect the Founding Councils to put the project strongly on the ground and begin it's physical realities in flying colors.
Walk in Peace
